Astrid and Apollo are attending the Hmong New Year festival (which is held at a big arena in St. Paul or Minneapolis in November or December), but in the crowded arena they are soon separated from their parents and younger sister, and between rescuing a little lost boy, and getting mistaken for a pair of famous child singers, the festival turns into quite an adventure for the twins.

On New Year's Eve, Karen asks her brothers and sisters to make a promise, but when they all start breaking them and call her a spy, she wonders why everyone is being bad except her.

The end of May makes Petal, the sixth sister, nervous for the month of June--her month--to begin, but the Huit octuplets have a wedding to look forward to, the Petes, and the cats in Paris.

The Huit octuplets discover Marcia's special power--the ability to see through things--which helps when their evil neighbor calls Social Services to report that they are living alone because their parents have not returned from wherever they disappeared to.
